The Sentinel is a first in a new series of groundbreaking builds, designed to showcase our creative customisation and design talents at strangelabs.io and sentinelframes.com.
The inspiration (for those who remember) was the classic Commodore 64 game, ‘The Sentinel’.

We reimagined the dark, mysterious central character for today.
Constructed within a rock-solid, 8mm precision arc-welded steel frame, designed and hand-built from scratch, our concept was to exhibit the components fully in three dimensions, within an imposing futuristic structure. We created a glowing, powerful core, that appears to be suspended weightlessly in its enclosure, using a strict, muted material palette in conjunction with custom LED colours, to invoke a stark, intense future-industrial feel.
The frame is intended to be a new blank canvas to allow us and other advanced custom builders to explore limitless new ideas, without being constrained by the conventions of typical case design.
The motherboard tray and I/O shields are custom CNC’ed from 2mm stainless steel, with rolled edges that are hand welded perfectly into the frame structure - (Take a look at our construction progress shots to see how it all came together!)
The machine is fully water-cooled with a symmetrical custom-loop, centred on the backlit, infinity-mirrored CPU water block, as the beating heart of the system. Radiators are neatly hidden behind the motherboard on custom, adjustable brackets, which clip to the frame and can support any array of other components.
The PSU provides additional stability by keeping the centre of gravity low and aligns perfectly centrally, feeding power to the PC discreetly behind the motherboard, via the Cablemod custom cables, once it has been booted remotely via a car-key style fob clicker.
