Best Build

X Æ A-12

What is your name / nickname /age / occupation / Location
- Joshua Williams / Josh / 25 / IT technician / Evansville, IN

What did you first come here for?
- I am addicted to liquid cooling. Here I can show off my liquid cooled systems and see other liquid cooled systems that are better then mine to lust after.

What do you mainly use the system for?
- I use the system for mostly gaming, research for my job, and web browsing. (OK, to be honest it's mostly used for PUBG/Warzone)

How much money did you spend on the rig as it is right now?
- Around 1200 for the case, 1200 for components.

How often do you update/buy a new rig?
- every 2-3 years

What components are used?
  • Mobo: MSI Z370 sli plus
    CPU: Intel 8600k @ 5GHZ
    GPU: 1080TI AORUS
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB @ 3200MHZ
    PSU: Corsair HX 1000i
    MDPC-X cables, Mayhems coolant.

Do you prefer a brand like NVIDIA/Intel/AMD?
- I prefer Intel/Nvidia since I primarily use my PC for gaming. That's not to say I don't like AMD and what they have to offer. I wrote an entire ebook on how to build a computer with Ryzen as the focus.

Does your PC live up to your expectation?
- Yes! I love the unique case and I feel like I could stick with this chassis for a long time.

What's the best part of your rig?
- The case and being able to work with a distribution plate. It's so easy to do tubing runs when the distro plate lines up with your components.

Any dislikes, things you should not have bought or modded?
- I should probably spend more time on cable management, and there are a few bends I'd probably re-do if I ever get some downtime.

Did you modify anything? cases/video cards/other? Did you do it yourself? Walk us through it.
- Nope! I did try making custom cables but I quickly discovered how time consuming this can be, so I went with MDPC-X.

What is your latest 3DMark score (Time Spy Preferred)?
- I haven't benchmarked yet, since I usually re-use components from previous builds.

Do you have any future updates planned?
- Definitely not for this build. I do have plenty of ideas for future builds. I would love to do something crazy, like build a triple loop system in a small form factor case, or do a scratch build.

Does your rig or mod have a name?
- I am a huge Elon Musk/Tesla fan, so I have both my car, future child, and the PC named as follows: X Æ A-12
Color(s): Black Gray Red
RGB Lighting? Yes
