Had my streaming rig in an older Cooler Master case. Time to move it to the Cougar Pioneer case! It was rocking a used Cooler Master Seidon 120m. Going now with the Corsair H80i v2 that I had in my 8700k gaming setup before upgrading.
Old case was crap for cable management and ..: I mean look at all that non-black surface area.
This drive cage blocked the removal of the included case fan. I drilled out (aka used a Dremel) to take out the rivets. Ditched these drive bays.
So much room with out the hard drive bays. I’ll put all the drives in the larger optical bays.
This is a generic pic of the the case with the 3.5” drive bays.
2 top exhaust fans and 1 bottom intake. There will be 1 more exhaust on the back plus a push/pull on the front for the aio.
Mounted the h80i v2 to intake from the front.
Up the skirt look at the build so far. It will contain a 1080 FE and an Elgato HD60 Pro.
RAWR! The Cougar Streaming Rig - WIP
Taking all my spare bits from building “Split” (my gaming rig) and putting all the best leftovers into my separate steaming and backup gaming setup.
Work in progress.
To do list: 1. Need to install the $15 used Asetek aio with the NZXT Kraken G12. It’ll The the first time I’ve done a GPU tear down. 2. Need to make a custom shroud. I took out the hard drive bays in the Cougar Pioneer. Did that for 2 reasons. First the ****ing drive bay 100% blocked the mounting screws of the included (crappy) fan on the Cougar Pioneer case. How in the absolute **** did they not catch this!!? I’ve had this case a few years and just now finally decided to drill the rivets out. Second, after I did that I decided to use all that empty space to front mount the AIO. Total win-win. \o/ Does however leave a open spot that I need to make a custom cover for.
Will end up mounting the 2 SSDs and the 4tb SATA 7200 drive in the big open space that is the for the nonexistent optical drives.
I will say I love the look of this case. It’s so... German. It’s functional, athletically pleasing in its simplicity and not over the top. It has a SATA dock on top which is very handy.
I want to improve airflow by adding a 120mm fan in the 3 x 5.25” drive bay cutout with out making it look cheep.
I want to make this a killer steam PC and backup gaming rig. No fluff here.
