RAWR! The Cougar Streaming Rig - WIP
Taking all my spare bits from building “Split” (my gaming rig) and putting all the best leftovers into my separate steaming and backup gaming setup.
Work in progress.
To do list:
1. Need to install the $15 used Asetek aio with the NZXT Kraken G12. It’ll The the first time I’ve done a GPU tear down.
2. Need to make a custom shroud. I took out the hard drive bays in the Cougar Pioneer. Did that for 2 reasons. First the ****ing drive bay 100% blocked the mounting screws of the included (crappy) fan on the Cougar Pioneer case. How in the absolute **** did they not catch this!!? I’ve had this case a few years and just now finally decided to drill the rivets out. Second, after I did that I decided to use all that empty space to front mount the AIO.
Total win-win. \o/ Does however leave a open spot that I need to make a custom cover for.
Will end up mounting the 2 SSDs and the 4tb SATA 7200 drive in the big open space that is the for the nonexistent optical drives.
I will say I love the look of this case. It’s so... German. It’s functional, athletically pleasing in its simplicity and not over the top. It has a SATA dock on top which is very handy.
I want to improve airflow by adding a 120mm fan in the 3 x 5.25” drive bay cutout with out making it look cheep.
I want to make this a killer steam PC and backup gaming rig. No fluff here.
