Shadow Wraith

Thanks for checking out my first posted build. I've been an enthusiast for over 2 decades, but have only been water cooling for the past few years, and custom loops the past 8 months. First with AIOs into smaller cases (most recently an Evolv Shift) and then full custom loops (most recently into an Evolv Shift X).

After a great deal of deliberation and considering a number of great ITX cases, I pulled the trigger on the incredible Singularity Computers Wraith case. I've been a huge fan of Daniel from Singularity for a number of years, and was blown away by the Spectre case, so when they released an ITX case I knew I wanted to give it a try.

I've re-used a lot of parts from my previous Evolv Shift X build, but will also be making customisations to this case and attempting very special custom cabling. I like RGB but not OTT, so this build will be quite dark and stealthy, but with RGB accents to spice it up.

I'm a sucker for details, down to (literally) the last screw and will be be updating this post with progress along the way - so stay tuned and feel free to ask any questions or make suggestions as I go.

3D Printed Panels with custom stats screen

Custom matte black hard tubing

I love the industrial look and contrast provided by matte black tubing, but unfortunately I couldn't find any for my size fittings so decided to do them myself. I first measured and produced my bends, cut to size and then gave the surface a light sand to prime them before painting them with various paints.

I had mixed success with a few Krylon paints, and ended up settling upon a Hasbro satin black which gave a really nice finish that matched the aesthetics of the EKWB Quantum fittings.

Really happy with how some of the connections turned out, as the wraith is far from straight forward in places and could do with a little rethink for some of the manifold port placement in my opinion.

RGB and Fan controller

I was absolutely appalled by how poor the EKWB Loop Connect controller was, and had nothing but issues with it from day 1. The software is complete garbage and I cannot believe a company like EKWB would release such a critical piece of hardware in such a sorry state. I decided to take advantage of their open return policy on this controller and got a full refund - sadly the time I wasted designing and printing a custom floor panel with it and running custom cabling is lost!

I replaced the EK Loop Connect with two pieces of hardware instead - an AquaComputer OCTO for the fan and pump control and a Razer Chroma Controller for the RGB elements. AquaComputer's AquaSuite is an absolutely incredible piece of software, and I will never turn back after getting to try it out. I am already using Razer Synapse for my peripherals so being able to control my case RGB from the same software was a no-brainer. Works pretty much flawlessly and allows me to include my case in the Synapse Studio to do pretty much any custom lighting I want.

In order to get some photos to show you guys of the lighting, I had to install some temporary cabling to get the system to boot etc. I have something very special planned for the cabling so please ignore the cables here - they are not staying!

I finished up wrapping the case panels and did the first dry fit assembly to give you guys a glimpse at how it'll look. Both sides of all panels needed to be wrapped due to how visible the inside of the case is from outside. The wrapping was intense, in particular the grooves and vents which all had to be hand cut - I went through a full pack of blades for my NT Cutter. I think the outcome was worth it though.

It's worth mentioning that this vinyl has an interesting "flip" effect to it, where the camo pattern shifts around as you change your viewing angle. I wish I could upload video here to show you guys the effect, as it really is incredible.

Due to the almost rubber-like texture to the vinyl, and the way the vent grooves are designed, the front and top of the panels remind me a lot of tire tread, giving the build a kind of mechanical vehicle feel to it that I might try to explore further.

I have also included a few shots of the new EK Quantum Flow Meter, which I was lucky enough to secure from the first batch released last week. I'm sure I can find somewhere to include it in this build!

False Floor (cable management)

Apologies for the delay in this latest update - I have been waiting for some parts to arrive, and working on some software for the build (this will be shared later on a new update).

As some of you have alluded to in the comments, cable management is very tricky in this case as there is nowhere to hide and everything is on full display. The case comes with a shield style cover/shroud for the main PSU cables (which i've removed

, more on this in a later update) but for the remaining cables such as pump, fan PWM, fan RGB, RGB strips, temp sensor, USB connector, power switch, block RGB etc these would normally be on full display.

My solution was to create a "false floor". an 11mm channel that provides me with an 8mm gap between the real bottom of the case, and this new floor. All of the above cables and more can be routed underneath this false floor, tidying up everything and meaning that no unsightly cables should be on display. The floor has cutouts for the existing PSU and GPU riser mounts, along with another cutout for the EK Loop Connect controller.

The floor is made out of foam board, and then wrapped in vinyl to match the rest of the case. I noticed that the pictures show it at a slight angle - it was loosely sat on the original panel during photos but is straight when properly fastened. The pictures also show a test fit inside the case, but I haven't run the cables yet so ignore these!
