Hey all, It was my birthday last month and decided to treat myself to a present for my setup. A Samsung 49" Super Ultrawide 1440p monitor, now I had only ever gamed on a normal 27" 1080p monitor so this was a huge jump for me but i am so happy with the outcome of this and the cleaner look i went for on the PC.
Not much changed on the PC bar a deep clean and change to the EK Cryofuel Indigo Violet fluid and decided to try out the GPU in normal position rather than vert to see if much difference in temps (there wasnt as much as expected, 5-8 degrees higher when vert mounted)
I dropped the triple monitor (24" x 27" x 24") i had before and opted for a single 49" which i was worried about being to large for gaming but it just isnt haha, its awesome and very immersive lol. This matched with jumping to 1440p it really was a game changer.
Not played much yet as only arrived yesterday and setup last night but running this on a 2080 Super seems pretty good and getting around 80-90 fps in Destiny 2. Planning on a 3080ti (if thats what it ends up being called) later this year so that should push me over the 100fps and near the 120hz of the monitor to fully appreciate
Being a huge fan of Destiny since the beginning, only right that i honour that love in a theme for my setup. I recently found some cool little models and bits so thought now is the time.
Black Coolant and some Destiny theme bits
I decided go for a different fluid to the normal and try out Mayhems Pastel Black. I love the effect it gives and contrasts with the white case perfectly.
Also added some bits that make it more personal to me e.g. Helmets from biking, Destiny theme bits from my favourite game.
Faster Ram, Custom View 71 PSU shroud and freshen up to set up
So after having some issues with my Corsair 3200mhz ram (wouldnt recognise/boot) i decided to upgrade to the Aorus 3600mhz kit and was not disappointmented. Performance difference is pretty minimal but the asthetic look is so much cleaner.
While I had it apart i decided to take some time to make myself a PSU shroud as i felt that was the only thing letting the View 71 down, and i am really happy how it came out. Really improved the look IMO.
Doing all this the set up needed a clean up and added couple little personal touches/querks to reflect my personality a little more which were the addition of a personalised Destiny Ghost, Master Chief holder/clock and turned my Ryzen9 box into a tissue box just because well, it wasnt being used for anything else lol.
New Cables - Carbon and Purple
Only a little update but changed the look more than i thought it would, new Carbon + Puple cable extensions
When 49" isn't enough haha
Missed having a 2nd screen for discord etc when gaming so little update plus its great for work lol
SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless +GameDAC ft Claptrap
So will finishing the build, there was one last thing pestering me.... I have been wanting a wireless headset for a while and ive loved my Arctis 5 so much that i decided to stick with SteelSeries and go for the Arctis Pro Wireless +GameDAC controller. Now where to keep them, we all have all seen RGB headset stands so i wanted something different, so had a look about and found a Claptrap controller holder which ended up fitting the bill perfectly as fits headphones on him and he sits on top of the GameDAC perfectly :)
