Amber drop V2
My first venture into custom loop cooling
The build was replaced by a H500P project with the goal of fitting a 200x400mm radiator in 2018, that in many ways failed and represents a significant visual downgrade
- Build time: sometime in early 2017 i believe, right when the 1080ti FE released.
- History behind the build: This build is my first time doing custom loop cooling. It represents a downsizing from my earlier Amber drop V1 due to moving to a smaller place, as well as a GPU upgrade to the 1080ti. It took a lot of planning and some work getting all the parts, but overall i were happy about it then and still is.
- What kind of custom work went into it: Obviously everything is cooled by a custom waterloop based on EKWB parts with hwlabs GTS radiators. Furthermore the power LED button is modded to color match the orange theme i went with, and the bottom of the front got modded (really, i just hacked a giant hole in the bottom) to fit a 360mm radiator in the front. Beyond that it's pretty stock.
- What i'd like to improve if it were today: Honestly, apart from moving to hardline and change some runs a little i wouldn't do much. All i'd do is get some aftermarket heat spreaders for that bare pcb ram (because the ram was too tall), throw out the HDD cage to get the pump under the PSU shroud (would perhaps need a DDC for that), and get a bigger reservoir so it looks more natural under the GPU. Maybe i'd also get one of the newer meshify C mini cases for that sweet tempered glass and mesh front.
