Build log for Project Black Gold
As you have probably realized already, this build is not done yet. It is in fact just a build log, so the images just show what's been done thus far. If you want to get a better understanding of the build i'd suggest reading onwards! And if you like my ideas then don't forget to favorite to get updates on it!

Intention for the build: Upgrading/modding an older build.
The build is an improvement and upgrade of my earlier Project golden ice. This build is pretty much what i envisioned golden ice to be, and in many ways golden ice were just the prototype for this machine.

Theme: Black backdrop with frosted tubing holding red coolant, illuminated by amber light.
The build is intended to feature a black backdrop and case with a warm amber glow from the RAM and top/bottom fans, with honeycomb mesh to break up the light from the fans.

Mods i'll be doing:
  • Watercooling. Custom watercooling (obviously) with 360mm in the top, bottom, and side. The reservoir will be a heatkiller unit with an integrated D5 pump mounted to the front, the CPU block will be a phanteks C350i, and the GPU blocks will be phanteks glacier 1080ti FE blocks connected by an ek terminal (because it fits phanteks blocks). The fittings will most likely be black, unless i'm able to get my hands on byksky gold fittings for cheap (most gold fittings are too dull looking)
  • Rad shrouds. Custom made acrylic radiator shrouds and honeycomb mesh covers will be made for the top and bottom rads to cover them, yet still let the amber glow from the fans show. This should look significantly cleaner than bare radiators with fans on.
  • Painting components for color uniformity. Certain components like covers on the waterblocks and maybe some fan hubs will need to be re-painted black so i won't end up with a mess of colors.
  • RGB layout/plan. With 6 RGB fans (tip and bottom), 3 halos ARGB (front), RGB strips in the reservoir, and RGB strips in all 3 blocks it's all going to be a mess in of itself. All corsair units will be wired to a commander pro, all halos ARGB will be joined together and run off the mobo, and all 3 blocks will be joined together and run off the mobo 4pin, and the res will get it's own 4 pin. This is done to isolate the different strip types in order to permit color uniformity across the board, as that will indoubtedly demand different RGB values.
  • Custom cables Black and gray cables from cablemod for EPS, 24pin, and 6/8pin PCIE power. As you've probably figured I'm still waiting on some of the cables

This was one of the most fun yet also most demanding builds I've done. Not only because there's so much going on that needs to fit, but also because of how many small yet visible mods that were involved. I'm overall happy with the build and it'll probably remain for quite a while.

Remember, if you like my work then I'd love to hear in the comments
