The final result!
It looked amazing back then, and it is quiet as hell with a 280mm on the gpu and a 280mm on the cpu!
It really set the standard for "silent" for years to come!
Case panel on!
The PC before i started working (minus GPU)
What's going into the rig!
A PNY XLR8 980ti with an NZXT X61 AIO and a kraken G10, a swiftech H240-x for the CPU, a ton of fans, and custom cables!
RAM and GPU
Pulling everything out of the case!
Stipping down the GPU
All bare
X61 and kraken G10 ready for mounting!
Making the PSU shroud
Test fitting PSU shroud. It fit nicely
First test fitting with components...

This build is old, and mostly uploaded because nostalgia
Build time:
sometime in early 2015 i believe.
History behind the build:
It represents my first push beyond regular AIO cooling back in 2015 i think? Obviously i were absolutely CRAP (and so were my camera). It did however set some standards for years to come. Firstly it brought me into this scene, secondly it redefined the meaning of "silent", and thirdly it started my love for black and orange.
What kind of custom work went into it:
A lot of it is semi-off the shelf components actually. The GPU cooling is a sold kit you just have to assemble (though i suppose by most people's standards that alone counts as modding), and the CPU cooling is a closed loop. So really, all i did was paint the ram and make the PSU shroud. While the cables are custom, i did not make them myself.
What i'd like to improve if it were today:
Everything really? It's a long time ago and today's skills far exceed my skills back then. Though i would have put more effort into the PSU shroud or just bought one of the many pre-made ones for that case, maybe made a custom shroud for the G10 kraken, and finally i would've gotten a 980ti with a backplate. I would've probably also modded the side panel to significantly enlarge the window.
Nevertheless, here it is in all it's glory. Amber drop V1
