Build specifications-
CPU:
Intel Core i9-10900X
- With intentions to remain on Intel's HEDT and reading an article on Intel's 10th generation Cascade Lake-X processors, I decided on the entry level i9-10900X due to its higher base clocks and matching amount of cache. After initial setup; enabling XMP, I overclocked all cores to 5GHz @ 1.372v. Although, after countless stress testing and benchmarking I found 4.9GHz @ 1.359v to be my chips sweet spot (full stability running aida64extreme/ while avoiding TjMax).
MOTHERBOARD:
Asus ROG Rampage VI Extreme Encore
- I have become accustomed to building on ASUS boards/ BIOS etc over the years, so I was deciding between the OMEGA or ENCORE but with the Encore being released - designed for Intel's 10th generation processors it made the decision easier. First impressions, this board is amazing.. and heavy! After updating BIOS to 0505, I experienced issues and with some further testing on different BIOS versions I found 0401 to offer the most performance (Cinebench R15/ R20) while remaining stable. I look forward to seeing how much further I can push my chip after a better BIOS offering Intel's new microcode is released.
MEMORY:
G.SKILL Trident Z Royal 32GB
- After finding this 32GB kit of G.SKILL Trident Z Royal 32GB (4 x 8GB) 3600 [16-16-16-36] on Newegg I really didn't think twice about ordering them. I had intended on getting the Trident Z RGB 32GB kit, with cl14 timings, but something about this kit screamed premium and tbh the polished aluminum heatspreaders is what sold me.
STORAGE:
- (2) Corsair Force series GT 120GB SSD's operating in RAID0 as the OS.
- Intel 750 Series 400GB NVME PCIe SSD as application/ primary storage.
- Samsung 850 pro series 512GB SSD as my dedicated game drive.
- Western Digital SN750 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD as my secondary dedicated game drive.
- WDB WD3003FZEX 3TB HDD for backup storage (rendered game clips etc.).
GPU:
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER FTW3 Hydro Copper
- I chose EVGA for their **Hydro Copper** version of the RTX 2080 SUPER. Right out of the box this card clocked to 2010MHz with a cool temp of 42°c (load). After some quick stress testing/ benchmarking I found a stable overclock of 2115MHz (GPU clock +105), 44°c (load), 25°c (idle) respectively!
POWER SUPPLY:
Corsair AX1200i
- I chose the AX1200i by Corsair for its fully modular design and Platinum efficiency rating. The 10 year warranty and digital (DSP) control through Corsair Link allows real-time monitoring making this a solid investment in my build for the years to come!
CASE:
Lian Li 011 Dynamic XL-X
- With this being an upgrade build and wanting to build in something more compact than the 900D, I chose the Dynamic XL for its modular - clean minimalist look! The case also met my criteria needing 4+ storage mounting locations (hot swap was a bonus), room to accommodate (2) 360mm radiators, easily removable dust filters and an open tempered glass design to showcase the hardware. The case was smaller than I expected causing some issues with radiator spacing which forced me to purchase new, thinner profiled radiators. Lastly, to make this build look and feel more premium I ordered a custom cable kit from CableMod.
