Been in lockdown for the better part of a year, working from home and watching the apocalypse that was video cards and cpu shortages. Diddnt think i was going to get the opportunity to do an upgrade this generation, mainly due to cost and availability. Bought a new case and some lian li fans to breathe new life into my existing build (8086k/2080ti) which isnt a slouch by any means, and still does amazing with most things i do. Ive been in the process of building a flight sim cockpit (honeycomb yoke and throttle, and i 3d printed and built from scratch a couple of g1000 screens) and fs2020 isnt running quite to my liking, as well as driving 3 1440p screens. Do i need to upgrade? no probably not. Its been such a crap year, been working my ass off and dealing with everything thats been thrown at me so decided to upgrade. very few compromises, and complete overkill for my usage but here comes the full 2021 upgrade. Case, cpu cooler and fans have arrived, along with a vertical gpu mount. GPU shipped today, still waiting on CPU, PSU and Ram to ship in the next day or two. Undecided if i want to reuse my samsung evo m.2, or go with a gen 4 drive yet. Super exited to build this
If I only had a brain....
Ya'll got any of them cpu's? lol
so 3080ti, motherboard, ram, nvme and power supply arrived today. Thought ehh may as well size them up and do a test fit. yeah so rather than just sizing it up, ended up fitting everything lol cabling at the back isnt the best, may revisit at some point and get some sleeved cables. Had some of the lian-li strimer extensions on order but they seem to be super hard to source at the moment. The black and silver of all the parts looks amazing (not that you can tell from my shitty pics) will take some better ones tomorrow after the cpu arrives (fingers crossed!!) and i mount the cooler. Always wanted to do a vertical GPU build, but every case ive had has had no space against the side panel, so air intake was shocking. The torrent is inset a couple of inches using the flex-b 20 bracket, and with the fans underneath... and the crazy air from the front, should be sweet! fingers crossed for the CPU and windows install tomorrow night
