A simple, and affordable, build designed for the dual purposes of work and entertainment.
The primary uses of this build include:
- Gaming (Mostly CPU-Bound Games)
- Extreme Multitasking
- Software Development
- Machine Virtualization
This build started as an upgrade of my previous build, which at the time was about 5 years old, with a budget of about $500.
Because of this tight budget, some parts had to be reused (PSU, SSDs, HDDs & Blu-Ray Drive), while some of the replaced parts were sold in order to squeeze out a bit more wiggle room in the budget.
With some deal shopping, and the help of an amazing friend, I was able to get all the core components for about $800 (including the graphics card!), leaving me a little bit extra for some some cable extensions and a couple of LED strips.
The graphics card is by far the weakest part of this build. However, given the fact that even a 1050 Ti at the time could cost you $200-300, I was ecstatic to be able to afford a 1060 (even if it is the 3GB version) thanks to a friend selling me his very lightly used one for $100!
That said, most of the games I play tend to be more CPU bound than GPU bound, so I haven't actually had any issues with this graphics card's performance for 1200p gaming.
