A dream of mine has come true! I have received a Sponsorship from ASUS Republic of Gamers! They pulled me in to help build a machine to promote their Z690 motherboards! They generously provided me their new Maximus Z690 Formula in white, along with CPU, RAM, PSU, and even an ROG Strix 3080! Not only would this build be used in their promotional material, it was also exhibited at Intel's "Intel Creator Challenge Finale: PC Modding Competition".
About the Build:
This InWin WINBOT was severely damaged during shipping to a customer and was returned back to InWin. InWin then sent me this case to bring it back to life. Since the damaged section could not be repaired, I had to cut out and remove it. Once making the cut symmetrical, I had lost almost the entire back half of the sphere. I then had to create custom brackets to support the hinge mechanism so the case could open and close again without collapsing in on itself. Once functional again, I needed a build.
When ASUS approached me to build a machine for the launch of their Z690 motherboards, I knew this was my chance to use the WINBOT. ASUS provided me with their first-ever white Formula motherboard, so the white and black color scheme became my go-to. The WINBOT has a Sci-Fi like appearance, so I wanted to enhance it by cutting out circles in the sphere to create a webbed look. This gives it a more alien, organic appearance (and has the bonus effect of removing some badly scuffed areas). I could not easily remove the red pin-striping, so I incorporated the design and made red my tertiary color.
This is my first project with ASUS and couldn’t be possible without other contributing companies such as Intel, EKWB, Corsair, InWin, and CableMod. I sincerely thank you all for the opportunity. It has been an honor. I hope my take on the InWin WINBOT leaves a lasting impression
