Small cutout in PSU cage necessary to accommodate Silverstone's protruding female connectors
Vertical GPU mount allows for less constrained airflow through bottom radiator.
The choice was 30mm rad w/ normal fans, or a 54mm rad w/ crappy slim fans. I'm betting that airflow wins over surface area, and this lower fin density option seems to run quieter.
Compact Home Theater (Gaming) PC
When Cyberpunk 2077 launched, I moved my Ryzen 9 / RTX 3090 workstation into our living room so we could enjoy it together, cinematic-style on our 65" OLED.
She's hooked on gaming together, but I want my workstation back. Time to build a new rig just for gaming on the TV (and possibly streaming at some point).
Gaming goals
- Gaming in 4K HDR @ ~60fps+ with ray tracing
- Super fast, stable, low-latency networking
- Enough storage for our favorite 6-8 games at any one time (we have a huge local steam/gog/xbox cache for when we want to switch it up)
Fitting into the "adult living room" requirements
- "Wireless everything" since we sit about 6' away from the screen and don't want a tripping hazard
- Small enough to blend in with our existing TV stand
- Very quiet cooling so we can get the full effect from spooky/creepy games
Playing together as a couple goals
- Automated backups of save games, so if one of us accidentally overwrites an important save game, we can restore quick and easy
- Enough of a "surround sound" effect that we can both sit together in an audio sweet spot and hear where footsteps are coming from
