The guy for whom we build Maverick wanted a new one, so we obliged.
As always, I get a base sense as to what the client is about and then i pretty much have carte blanche.
this one is special, big time.
we took an old enermax/chieftec dragon case from 2003 and built a high-end homage to the web-slinging anti-hero.
This time we did something I've never touched, in my life.
we used mod podge and comic book pages to decaupage them to the case, and it took really nicely.
then we used PUFFY PAINT to simulate webbing. I even used it to make a web line for venom's hand- i put a little oil on some parchment paper, put the paint down in long line with five-pointed end so it would look like the web grabbed on at several points.
the puffy paint was a big part of this project.
The wife being the resident house genius, she encouraged me to hand-paint the faceplate, so we came up with the idea of it being a building Venom was climbing.
We used Culture Hustle's Raygun Red for the windows, and oh man, does it look good under blue lights.
The case didn't come with the original drive window, so we build a custom screen to fill the space, using sheet metal to create a rib cage of sorts.
Once again, we deleted the power/reset entirely in favor of the gigantic screen, which also acts as a hide for the new power switch, which sits under more "webbing" on top.
Another thing we did again was the magnetically attached top panel for a fucking whopping three fans on top now, but one thing did new was have a guy on etsy print me that nifty hh-mods fan baffle, sooooo, we're doing that every time now!
