I'd never painted, drawn, or even thought about either when it came to anime. I haven't watched it since i was just getting out of the army!
when you open up the panel and fold down the stage, it reveals the screens, and then you attach stage horns with magnets to the ground subs. i also made aerial speakers that you can "fly" with plastic stage rigging i bought for minatures.
i toured in a metal band so i went ultra-real with this one. underneath the stage is a hand-sewn stage skirt that covers ground subs-- which by the way, hide an actual hand-made blluetooth system.
I cast one of ado's official LIMITED EDITION blue roses in acrylic resin, and lit it with USB lights on each side. the rear of the stage is lit with m.2 heatsinks.
official ado merch ruined; i dismantled her nifty blue rose flashlight and added it to the water loop.
the screens are animated.
as is my custom, i put the top grill on a standable hinge!
hand-painted guitar and bass rigs. the ampeg stuff, by the way, wasn't there. i had to paint the logos myself.
i also had made a drum kit, which i put together and pained myself. i painted some foamcor for the base and marked several parts of with neon green to look like masking tape-- a crucial part of touring life is being able to see in the dark and also remember where everything goes EXACTLY.
the back alley, hand-painted by me, complete with touring posters covering each other.
this, friends, is the independently powered and controlled stage lighting. i used a bunch of 12 volt LEDs and put them into enclosures to look like par-cans, which i wired through plastic stage rigging into a remotely controller dimmer switch.
Blue Rose- an homage to Ado

I was contracted by a client who really likes the J-Pop star ADO
Some of you like her, I'm sure.
Being a former touring metal singer, the idea of building a music-themed PC really spoke to me on a personal level.
I nearly cried when I came up with the idea...
"Why not turn a computer into a live concert?"
So I did.
I present to you BLUE ROSE, formerly a Lian Li PC P80, it is not a gorgeous piece of art, complete with INDEPENDANT stage lighting, on a dimmer with remote, and a SELF-BUILT bluetooth system embedded into the ground subs(4 speakers in all, two in back and two in front under the hand-sewn stage skirt).
BTW the bluetooth connects faster than any other BT peripheral I've ever used, and i probably paid like 10 bucks- it came in a pack of two.
- on the back, a hand-painted back-alley for the venue, complete with wrinkly tour posters and a parking sign.
- the right side panel has a window cut out, and it's some of the straighest plasma cutting i've ever done.
- the front panel, three not-yet-available-in-the-states thermalright mirror fans, under a hand-painted blue rose, using Vallego true metallic paint
- under the stage on the crowd leg(the front of house) there bluetooth stystem is anchored to a 3x3 foot polycarbonate "stage floor"
- in the case, under the stage, there are two tiny usb lights powered by a thermalright USB header hub
- the same hub powers the three thermalright trofeo screens, which are actual video files using thermalright's software. pretty cool. they loop on three second videos.
- as a true homage to Ado(who by the way, rocks), I used her official "rose light" and fashioned it into an actual passage for the water loop. took forever but it works really nicely. and no, i didn't have to cut it open. i fused the fitting together with loctite sealant.
- yes, the side panel was hand-painted, in painstakingly slow fashion, by me. never done it before.
