Built this for a friend that wants to render ALL the frames in Cinema4d with Octane render.
Had to go with a case that could support dual PSU's because even though we by a miracle managed to find 2 Strix 3090 cards and a Threadripper CPU it was impossible to find a 1600w PSU anywhere. So the 1000w psu is feeding the two GPU's and the 750w is just running the rest of the system.
The Corsair HX1000 has some severe coil whine that kind of ruins everything when the GPU's are loaded up, so a replacement for that has been ordered.
Triple rads and the fans get the job done whisper quiet. Couldn't get Noctua NF-F12's in time so we tried out the Arctic Cooling P12 TC fans out.
They seem ok but one of them hits the actual rad and creates a horrible noise when running at a high speed. Fortunately the system will always always run with fans at 20-30% so not an issue at these speeds, just not impressive build quality.
Had to install a Corsair Commander Pro in order to control the fans and the pump - I gave up trying to set up the fans in the Asus bios - it kept ignoring my settings and my frustration level was going through the roof!
Definitely the most powerful machine I have built so far!
In the future I will probably upgrade the backplates of the 3090 with the announced backplate active cooling solution that EK has announced because the GPU memory junction temperature gets dangerously high - especially on the 2nd card that does not get as much airflow on the backplate as the top one.
