m.2 SSD Performance through the PCIe adapter card. You can see the write speed is actually being choked a bit due to X58 only have PCIe 2.0, but it's still lightning fast.
**Before** (That cable management... oh gawd.. my first build ever... don't hate)
The thermal paste job of the guy I bought the mobo from...
OG Budget Beast
This is a rebuild of my first build ever from 2009 - I decided to do a fun retro upgrade from my old AMD Phenom II 955 black to a Xeon X5650.
Xeon X5650 6 core, 12 thread OC'd @ 4.4Ghz
The plan was to pick up a couple high end parts (the cpu cooler and the m.2 ssd) which will easily carry forward into a future new build while spending as little as possible on everything else to get as much performance as possible per dollar.
I call this the OG Budget Beast:
All components purchased used and in CDN$ Asus P6X58D mobo ~$100 Intel Xeon X5650 ~$20 Samsung 950 Pro m.2 NVMe ~ $180 PCIe m.2 adapter card ~$20 BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 ~ $80
Total = $400 with $260 of this being spent on items that will definitely carry on into a new build in the future.
All other components are carry-overs from my old build.
