Need to take this moment to vent on the shitty product from CableMod (PRO ModMesh RT-Series, allegedly compatible with Seasonic TX 1000 platform). I was playing a game, video card power usage was around 330-350W so quite normal, and suddenly the screen went dark. Then a smell of burnt plastic slowly started to become evident... Pretty terrified at that point, I thought the VRM on the card finally gave out, since the 3080/3090 cards have some very weird OCP considering the high transient power spikes, and i think it's a matter of time before some part of the VRM dies. But anyways, I went to pull the power cables out to inspect the card, and one of them was stuck. Didn't take much force to extract it, but .. the problem became clear when looking at it. Slagged. Plastic from the connector is still deep inside one of ports of the video cards connector, don't know how to get it out...
Wasn't even overclocking it...
Wondering if this is a common occurrence and CableMod really has shit products, ie unusable for current top-end hardware, or I'm just the unlucky bastard who got a bad cable
