Matriarch Deco
Spare parts build for my old ma. She loves a bit of Art Deco design, and so do I. Shoutout to Jeffrey Stephenson for making me want to do this.
I decided to cover up the dated front of the case using walnut veneer, which I carefully cut by hand as I don't have a laser cutter. I brought up the colour with a single coat of Colron "Jacobean Dark Oak" Danish oil.
The VU gauges are mounted to a Mountain Mods triple 5.25" bay blank. I wired in a molex plug for the 12v backlights, and used a couple of potentiometers to trim them to where the power LED would land nicely in the middle and the disk activity would tick without hitting zero and causing a small click as the needle came to rest.
