Hello everyone,

So a while ago, a good friend of mine who is a photographer, came to me asking about buying a NAS to store all her photos to, since at the moment she was just using external hard drives and it was super cumbersome. So I looked around and did some research and after discussing it with her we came to the conclusion that since she wanted a raid 5 array that a typical store bought NAS enclosure was pretty pricey. So I came up with the idea that I would build her a NAS from my business to hers. What she didn't know was that I decided to make it unique by making it entirely out of wood.

I designed it all in Autodesk Inventor and after a few renditions I finally felt like it was good enough to cut on the cnc router table I had access to. So I created the G-Code you need for the cnc machine in VCarve Pro and cut out the case out of a 1/4" 12" wide board of Oak.

Once the CNC machine was done cutting it I then sanded all the panels and made sure the were ready for assembly. Then I assembled the case by slotting all the panels together into the designed dato joints and gluing them together. After that I sprayed the entire case with an epoxy spray to seal the wood up as well as giving it a nice shiny look.

Then when the case was all assembled it came time to put all the NAS components in. I feel that the final product came out great and Danielle the owner of Marstonphotography.org absolutely loved her new NAS. She even took the pictures you see above of it, which in my opinion really made the Wooden Case POP!
