I love 20,000 Leagues under the sea and wanted to do a build that was inspired by this theme without going overboard with the a campy steampunk build with a bunch of gears glued everywhere that don't actually do anything. I wanted something that felt industrial but that still looked finished, while leaving a couple of things with an unfinished look to keep that feel such as the PSU cables.
I used real solid brass tubing and did a lot of the finishing touches by hand. The video card is actually behind the radiator and fan covers down on the bottom left and is connected to the water loop but it's not visible. I purposely left the PSU cables as is because the light reflects off the glossy coating enhancing that industrial feel I was going for. I felt that neat, braided and cable combed cables would look too clean and would detract from the feel I was going for.
I actually built my entire room around the build to really envelop myself in the theme with a custom made wood shelf, antique picture frames a brass diving helmet with an orange led I installed, and a replica of the Nautilus on top of the case. I also framed my monitor in an antique frame and found a desktop background of a giant squid attacking a boat so it looks like a painting when not in use. Finally I had a brass plaque made with the title Nautilus on it along with the date that Jules Verne wrote 20,000 leagues under the sea.
I also added little details like a custom copper steampunk USB drive with a matching orange LED, industrial style shelf brackets, a copper typewriter style keyboard, and an antique world map mouse pad.
