A Christmas build for my brother. No RGB rainbow unicorn puke here. More Benz less Evo.
The back side of The Gentleman. The fittings are a mixture of EK and Barrow. The GPU is an EVGA RTX 2080ti. Appropriately it's used to play RDR2.
The Ryzen 9 3900x is an amazing cpu. The ASUS ROG x570 itx motherboard looks great with the EKWB Lignum Water Block. The motherboard did need a bios update and some tuning to make the stock voltages appropriate for the system.
I wanted the Bitspower flow meter somewhere prominent but I had run out of space on the front side of the Phanteks Evolv Shift X. I love the fan blades of those Noctua NF-A 12x25 pwm fans.
I actually used a mixture of fittings to get the right look for the Lignum CPU block (I love the texture). I had a lot of EK Torque angled fittings but they are just too large for this ITX build. So only these 2 ended up in the final build. The rest are Barrow, EK classic. One thing worth noting is that EK and Barrow(ch)/Bykski have a different tint to their chrome finish. EK has a warmer tone whereas Barrow(ch) is closer to silver. I also like the HyperX DDR4 low profile ram, I won't be buying full height anymore.
The @heatkiller_watercooling Pump Reservoir is one of my favourites. I salvaged the pump and pump housing from my first build and attached it to the shorter reservoir. I couldn't get the clamp attachments to work in the narrow space. In the end I drilled two holes into the PSU shroud and bolted it on. That worked really well, it looks great and I like the way it floats in the space. EK clear coolant. I also love my black and brown @noctua_at NF-A12x25 fans.
There isn't enough clearance with the Lignum GPU block and back tempered glass panel. The solution was to remove the Lignum GPU block port collars. After that the EK Torque fittings still couldn't fit so I swapped them out for EK Classic. But the EK classic fittings were 0.5mm too wide in diametre to fit into the GPU block port hole after you removed the collars. In the end I had to use Barrow fittings and shave a little wood off the inside of the port recess.
I rotated the CPU Block 180 degrees to center the ports with the case and have the outflow drop into the reservoir below. One complaint with the Lignum block is that the fit and finish below the wood isn't that great. I had some bad threads on the AM4 standoffs and had to use quite a bit of force (pliers) to secure it to the motherboard. Underneath the wood it's standard EK workmanship and I have doubts about the price premium over regular EK blocks. Looks great though.
Parallel lines. Nailed it. :) Although the cables aren't too visible in this case with all the out of sight routing options, the @mdpcx transparent 18AWG wire looks great unsleeved and saves a a lot of space in tight places. I debated putting cable combs on but ended up really liking the way it coiled into the PSU shroud organically. The fittings just fit under the glass with less than a mm to spare so choose your fittings wisely.
