My first computer build and only so far. I wanted something small and powerful. I believe Prodigy's progress reflects mine.
This guy started off in a Bitfenix Prodigy case and a GTX 770. I really loved that case back in 2013. It was, in my opinion, a very interesting form factor. It had a custom, stealthy black on black front panel and RGB lighting inside. I went for custom water cooling. I was so proud of my custom water cooling work. I started with just a CPU loop and 240 rad but quickly added my 770 to it with another 120 rad in the front. If its wasn't such a money and time pit I would have continued using it in every iteration of this build.
The first upgrade was a GTX 980 and I moved everything to an InWin D-Frame Mini. I wanted my build to feel more premium. The new case had better build quality and was very solid. I was also into the open air design. I again was able to get a custom black on black themed case to go with the spirit of the build. We moved onto a AIO cooler for convenience.
The last revision of this build gets a GTX 1080 and the Define Nano S. At this point in my life I wanted something cleaner and subtle. It stays hidden under my desk and is super quiet. A stealthy ninja. I like the fact that it looks like a boring black box on the outside but inside it is still my Prodigy.
I am so surprised this build has lasted me so long with only GPU upgrades. When I decide to do a new build I will heavily consider the same manufacturers because I Have had no issues with the core components.
Looking back, I wish I did not sell the old cases because of the sentimental value. I did really enjoy every iteration of this build and they remind me of different parts of my life.
