Let's just do everything - ESXi, FreeNAS, pfSense, Gaming VM Hypervisor build
So instead of having three separate boxes for a gaming PC, pfSense, and FreeNAS, I decided to make an all in one build and virtualize everything. The Windows gaming VM gets the NVMe drive, 1080 Ti and the 2 USB ports on the motherboard that are in the IOMMU group for the security device passed through to it, FreeNAS gets a Dell Perc H200 flashed to IT mode for managing the 8x4TB HGST NAS drives, and pfSense is fully virtual.
Parts unlisted in build description:
HBA: Dell Perc H200 flashed to IT mode for FreeNAS (Guide found here)
NIC: Intel PRO 1000/VT for pfSense to use for routing
