I built this PC primarily for video editing and encoding. The company I work for films live events and we have many hours of ProRes footage each week that is edited, encoded and sent to our clients. This PC was designed with those needs in mind and has enough storage to allow us to keep all our footage in one place.
Some of the events we film are multi-day conferences shot with multiple cameras so we can have anywhere from 2 hours to 20 or more hours of footage from one job. This made the 7900x the ideal choice for encoding both long video files and multiple video files at once. There has been some criticism when comparing the i9 to AMD's offerings but so far we have been happy with the decision.
My only disappointment with the system is that Corsair Vengeance RGB Memory is not yet compatible with the X299 platform so the memory is constantly changing colors. I know they are working on it and hopefully this will be fixed soon.
