Black Box Engineer

Welcome - To the most Boring Black Box.

This build was meant to accomplish two things; Be Powerful, and Be Inconspicuous. With these design choices in mind, one thing was clear; No RGB!

Everything about this build is either black, or red. I chose red, because at the time the AsRock x99m was the literal ONLY 2011-3 mATX Motherboard I could get my hands on. So I chose red RAM to go with it. I spray painted my back panel PCIe slot protectors black, as well as my I/O shield (Why are they still sending out SILVER???). The fans were chosen for being powerful, and silent. Augmented even further with rubber mounters, I get ZERO vibration, and very low noise at maximum power. Even the HDD is Rubber Mounted!

This build was TWO years in the making. I had received an excellent deal on the 6850K through job incentives, and spent the next 8 months sitting on just the CPU. Then, over the next 8, I slowly pieced all the pieces I wanted/could afford together. Orinally I had a 780 in this computer. It took me another 6 months to hunt down a good deal on a 1070 Ti, because I was fixated on the DUKE version.

Now, at a year later, I couldn't be happier with it. It's a bit dusty, but boy does it crank through all my engineering applications, and it can also do any AAA or AA game on Ultra/High at that buttery smooth 100~144Hz G-snyc'd. I get my ears melted with the sound from my DT 770 Pro 250 Ohms hooked to a JDS Labs Atom, or my room rocked by a set of Klipsch Promedia 2.1BT. I won't be able to upgrade for a long time, so I'm glad I could piece this boy together when I did. Win or (way more likely) lose, I'm proud and happy to have my Black Box.
