Skidaddle [38.45L ATX]
[DISCLAIMER: I don't own this build anymore]
This build emerged from an urge to build a Core 2 era "retro" build, but with high end parts of the time. After all anyone can slap together an E8xxx Optiplex and call it a day.
So I happened to snatch a Q9550 E0 and a shiny Asus P5E3 Deluxe off ebay. The board was especially nice because it offers DDR3 support, beefy VRM and very nice cooling (full copper fin arrays!).
A case, GTX 660, SSD and other tidbits later, the Q9550 sat there happily chugging along with a 3.8GHz overclock (wish I'd had a bigger cooler for some 4.0 action).
Surprisingly snappy system for its age, and even gamed well at the time! (~mid 2017, almost pulled up on par to an i5 4440)
I just love the copper accents and the sturdy design of the board. Unfortunately I sold the system soon after as I didn't actually use it a lot. In hindsight I wish I'd kept it, given it a sleeker power supply, beefy cooler and stronger graphics card, to make it a really polished C2Q system.
Oh well...
