This was the second build I've done for a repeat client (his first was a FormD T1); primary purpose is gaming. For this build he had three specific requests: silent operation, an all-black aesthetic, and he wanted to use the Fractal Torrent Compact model with solid side panels for a stealth build. We live almost 2000 miles apart; I pointed out that without tempered glass the interior wouldn't be visible, so about anyone could do this. But he likes my aesthetic and cable work, and definitely wanted custom cables. So parts were drop-shipped to me and we got started.
For hardware I took advantage of a Microcenter bundle. The 7800X3D was an obvious choice as it matches performance with the 14900K at a much lower price. The TUF series boards are really good to maintain the all-black aesthetic the yellow accents on the board were either removed or covered with black vinyl wrap. I put Asus' TUF logo on the chipset heat sink using a matte black that stood out on the brushed aluminum finish (this is hidden behind the GPU, but these little details make me happy).
We went with the chromax NH-D15 instead of one of the less expensive options, mainly based on the chromax fans' near-silent operation. I did keep the two Fractal 190mm fans in the front as there's not a chromax alternative. The labels on the rear of the fans was covered with circles of black vinyl.
