Desk setup, build is in the cubby with cabinet fans to remove heat.
Original pre-assembly parts. Changed radiators and fans at a later point.
Viserion
Viserion was inspired by the undead Ice Dragon from Game of Thrones, resurrected by the Night King.
The eerie light blue glow of the dragons eyes and breath were of particular inspiration. I wanted the case to literally "breathe" like a dragon, so I modified the front of the Defince C TG, which is normally a blank flat faux anodized brushed aluminum look. To do this I cut a hole in the front panel, and created custom acrylic pieces on the sides to clamp in the filtered front. This to me helped maintain the feel of the Fractal Design Define C, TG while allowing the eerie blue "eye like" glow to emanate from the front. In addition, from a functional standpoint it allowed for much higher airflow potential to help cool the front mounted HWLabs 360GTS radiator.
Next to tie in the theme of the Ice Dragon Viserion even more, I decided to vertical mount the GPU to show off the MSI Dragon logo. The Define C TG does not support vertical mounted GPUs, however, so it was necessary to modify the back of the case as well. I used a custom 2 slot mount from MountainMods, which I cut up and attached to the rear air vent to the side of the normal PCI slots of the case. I then used a rubber grommet to make for a cleaner look from the rear and to protect the cables from rubbing on the cut out.
Mounting the GPU Vertically increased the space within the case a lot, allowing a full 250mm tall EKWB D5 pump/res to be tucked behind the GPU. Virtually every inch of space in this build had a purpose. With this build intended to be stored in a desk cubby, cooling was a priority, so the 8700k was delidded and a copper IHS was added with Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut liquid metal.
For the final aesthetic touch, the RGB fans and strip are configured to phase from white to blue to signify Viserion's transformation from a White Dragon to his final undead form signified by the eerie blue color.
