The kid got donated, used, second hand and a few new parts to build his first computer. He upgrades from a 1st Gen i7 to a 3rd Gen i7-3770 and a 1050 to a 980. The frame went from an old Optiplex 980 SFF to a Spec Omega RGB. We spent most of our money on parts that wouldn't need to be upgraded like the case, power supply and case fans. We hope to be able to replace the donated 3770.
Updated 2021:
We have gone through quite a few upgrades on the kids computer this past pandemic. Back in April of 2020 once things reopened, we took the first stimulus check and upgraded the kid to a Ryzen 5 3600x, B450, and 16GB 3200mhz ram. However, as the pandemic progressed and we had saved a ton of money on not doing stuff, Dad got his own machine: https://builds.gg/builds/dads-next-decade-build-30530. And then Dad Upgraded that machine. Freeing up a 3900XT and a 2080 Super that are going into this build for the kid. We noticed the 3900XT we put it from Dad running at a constant 95c, The cooler was going bad and and it wasn't cutting it. So upgraded Case, Cooler, and MOBO and Ram while we were at it.
The lighting is:
Lightning Node Pro (1):
Spec Omega RGB Case 30 LED Front Strip
2x HD120 Corsair Fans
Lightning Node Pro (2):
4x Corsair LED Strips (10 LEDS)
3x LL120 Corsair Fans
The next upgrade is a better cooler or AIO. We know it's junk, it's all we had that fit the last minute donation of the 3770.
