The International
This system was built for a friend, and gamer, who lives in a different country. This person does not have easy access to good PC components. Their existing computer (a laptop) was beginning to fail and they needed a new PC for gaming and for work (creator, graphic designer). Their budget was relatively small and building anything decent, from scratch, within it would prove difficult, if not impossible, at current prices.
Undeterred, we checked our storage of spare parts and came up with a few components that we could donate to the build and we asked if they could afford to purchase the rest. We added up the cost of the parts that were needed to complete the build, and we were delighted to discover that the costs of the remaining parts were within their budget. We agreed to proceed with the build.
It's always awesome when we get to build a gaming PC, and helping a friend made it even more so. The build came together nicely and we experienced only one minor issue when we pulled the CPU out of the box and discovered three (3) bent pins. Fortunately, we were able to straighten the pins enough for the CPU to drop into the socket and the rest of the build went smoothly.
After completing the build and loading the OS, we benchmarked, then, stress tested it to ensure it was functioning properly. The results were great, the CPU performed beautifully and the cooling kept temperatures under control the entire time.
Some of us computer geeks united to help a friend across borders. We love everything about this international project, and we hope you love it too!
