a view of the viking longboat top. the extra mast lying on the deck is to press in the hole which would rests the computer. all hidden of course. the helmet is servo driven up and down on the draw bridge mechanics to reveal or conceal the camera behind it.

this whole cae is about concealing the hardware when its closed.
i pnly made the stern of the longboat because i wanted that helmet in the fromt, ebven thoughviking helmets were maybe aquired but never really a part of the nordic warrior culture. maybe the gjurmundu one. anyway, here you can see the viking tech wheels pulling the chains to close the side panels.
here you can see the iron forged look mech covering the fans and the swing out fan cover which blows open when the fans are on full power. the mech was made of drain pipe leaf filters
i made my versions of some mercia shields to protect the chains in the back.
if you dont know, then you dont recognise this a the dvd drive when closed. it just looks like another VIKING V shape deco. its opened by pressing the ram batton left first rung. all hidden for the sake of the theme.
the doors are actually moving here
the doors are actually moving here,
the doors are actually moving here, almost closed
a close up of the viking fantasy helmet. wagner and hollywood introduces helmets with horns and wings. anyway, my nices said in cartoons the viking have helmets, they are the boss. so helmet it is, as a servoe driven camera cover.
not much to see here, this is the right inside cable covering back side of the mainboard, revealed when the doors are opened
didnt want any ports or anything anywhere tp ruin the theme in th front, so they are revealed when he doors open. th monitor is servo driven and is out in this picture. the psu is clad in wood too and i call it odins temple :-)
a side diagonally taken photo of the full wingspan. look like a klingon bird of prey. its spans over 120cm when open
as i decided to have the hlmet camera etc.. in the front. i still wanted to have the typical longbpat dragons somewhere, so i used them to hold the door puller wheels at the stern. 6 wheels all together form a winch system to open and close the doors.
while you see thes as medieval wooden turn wheels, the top on is actually the potentiometer with and automatic or manual switch on the left side. the bottom one is the chain to servos wheel transmission which moves in and out when turningthe poti wheel. you get the illusion of their being interconnected mechanically. typical VIKING tech.... :-)
i mixed water wased and solvent based paints to get the iron welded look. they take ages to dry properly then but do dry at different times, they react and give astructured look. it actually works. everyone thinks they are real forged iron casts.
what should i say, look at all those details.
I AM A SLAVE TO THE THEMES I BUILD
as you can see, this case is nailed together and held with metal imitate forges
the vikings didnt have glas, but they did pillage and so i wanted to have the activity and pwr leds behind old glass cast windows. i made these by sawing off the bases of mex perfume bottles
that sail can be swung out on its arm and is actually a nappy, unused of course. from my dear niece who becase my youngest sponsor at 1 year old back then. the monitor can be swung out be turning the hidden know in the front. it rests ona an old hdd flange motor axis as its fixture and is servo driven, fits right in the cavity between the psu and the front fans
when the side doors are closed you see many V forms. V for vikings, the doors swing into position as a V, the door opener switch is a V and so forth. on the side you can see the ram battons, which are hidden switches for the DVD drive and pwr on.
