Pure 2000s Windows XP Gaming Build
So, in an attempt to re-live my childhood, I decided to go all out Windows XP in this retro-ish build. It started because I am collecting a bunch of retro tech and games! I found out that, short of using a virtual machine, you can't natively run 16 bit games and apps on Windows 10. Mainly, I wanted to play my childhood favorite, Tonka Construction! So, only $500 of credit card debt later, I have built an entire Windows XP system. I sourced many new components, but some used parts. I found the Dell monitor at a local Goodwill, received a GTX 760ti as payment for working on a friend's computer, found a NVIDIA 9800GT on https://www.discountelectronics.com/ for $5, and purchased an AMD Phenom II X4 965 on ebay for $35. The most expensive part of this build was the retail copy of XP I found on ebay for about $90. Now I can re-live my childhood and experience my retro game collection on the most awesome computer from the Windows XP era!
