I built this machine for personal use, streaming, editing, and gaming without breaking the bank. I got most of these parts on sale and only paid retail for the case, CPU cooler, and GPU (kind of).
CPU: I actually got this open box from Micro Center for $144 USD (usually $200 at the time). It worked perfectly out of the box, had very few issues with overclocking, and it actually performs in the 99th percentile of all similar CPUs (see link above)-at least for now-, so I got a pretty good deal.
CPU Cooler: Good cooler. Quiet. RGB is a nice addition.
Motherboard: I also got this at Micro Center for $89 USD (after rebate) (usually $130) which is pretty good for an x470. It's a great motherboard. I had no issues with it while building on it and it supported ample overclocking support for a great value.
RAM: Unfortunately had to buy while RAM prices were still as high as ever, but I got it for $155 USD which is relatively reasonable (usual being around $170) and even though it wasn't the best deal, it hit rated speed without any trouble and I've had no issues so far.
SSD: Got this SSD mainly because it was cheap for around $79 USD for an NVME which is about the price for any other decent SATA SSD so I didn't pay too much extra for the luxury of an NVME. It's fast. Really fast. Can't say much else.
GPU: Basically got this right as GPU prices started to go down for $500 USD so, at the time, it was a balling deal (it also came with a $60 game). I considered waiting for the next gen of Nvidia GPU's but I didn't see a real benefit considering how good the gtx 1080 will be even with the new GPU release and since I didn't have anything else, I didn't want to wait. Either way, this thing is a beast and I haven't had anything at 1440p that it couldn't handle at 120+fps. Great GPU.
Case: Great case to build in. Looks nice. Only complaint is that I wish there were cable holes near the bottom of the motherboard for better cable management but the tinted glass makes it hard to see, so it's not that big a deal.
PSU: Sufficient wattage GPU. Only paid $55 USD (after rebate). It hasn't exploded or throttled my computer so I'm satisfied.
Overall experience building this is overwhelmingly positive. Performance is way better than expected, easy to build, and was really fun building. Last things: This keyboard is way underrated due to it's responsiveness as a wireless keyboard, compact and clean look, along with it's full rgb features at an insanely cheap price tag compared to other keyboards with the same functions. Also I activated Windows 10 pro for a low low price of $2 USD on an app called Gameflip. At first I was kind of sketched out but it was only $2 and I had little to lose. It worked properly and I strongly suggest looking through different places for the best deals.
Overall price for main parts came out at around $1200 after rebate, and for this beast, I would say that's a pretty dang good deal.
