Side-by-side with the Inwin 301 I was moving from.
Cutting out the top panel for increased airflow for the speaker fabric going on top.
Drilled out the corners with a 1/2" bit then used a jigsaw to cut the majority of it out, and a router to clean up my edges.
Frame for the speaker mesh. 1/4" MDF with the center cut out.
Routed a 45 degree chamfer on the edge to soften the profile.
Jigsaw and router again to clean up the inside edges.
Sprayed it matte black to reduce the chance of it being visible behind the fabric
Used double-sided foam tape on the case side to pad out the inset where the original metal panel sat.
Used double-sided tape and black masking tape to hold the fabric mesh to the frame, may try and staple it down later if I can get the proper sized upholstery staples.
Overall looks pretty clean stretched out.
Final product, pretty clean if you ask me.
Close up of how the edge ended up looking.
Glue on the tape melted as the pc heated up, so going with old fashioned staples for the "upholstery"
Final Setup
Fabric & Wood Node 202
A simple Node 202 with warm wood and a fabric panel
Turns out heat melts glue, who would have thought?
Took a trip to Home Depot and got some shallow staples to attach the fabric and to drill some holes for bolts, more securely attaching the fabric panel to the shell.
