It’s been just over a year now since I transplanted my previous build to a bigger case and maintenance time was drawing near. Over the Summer, it got extremely hot here in the UK and I was feeling it more so in my WFH/gaming space where my rig resides. I was coming to the realisation that the Corsair QL fans, as pretty as they are, were not giving me the static pressure performance I was hoping for. The fans got a bit loud during gaming (but still quieter compared to my pre-loop build), coolant temp was reaching 40 degrees Celsius during that time which made me uncomfortable. Plus I felt vertical space was being wasted with where the XD5 was positioned.
As I was hearing so much positive things about AquaSuite from the r/watercooling subreddit, I started looking into it, along with the Uni Fans Infinity recently coming out in a 140mm variant and getting a 4080 FE below RRP, it felt like a nice opportunity to refresh my build. The Ultitube fit nicely, has a bigger capacity and the Leakshield fill line in the PCIE bracket is a nice luxury. L-Connect for the RGB is garbage but I managed to get a theme similar to what I had before. I had some teething pains with AquaSuite to begin with, but I figured out how to get the fan controller working via the Octo. My CPU and GPU don’t go over 50 degrees Celsius during gaming (Destiny 2, God of War, Star Wars Squadron), coolant temp maxing out at 29, idle temps are 40s/30 respectively, coolant around 22-25, fans are only spinning at 800 RPM during gaming, 500-600 RPM every other time. We’ll see how the temps are in the Summer.
