Intro

This is my very first Ryzen system that I've built. It all got started when I found the motherboard, CPU, and ram on Craigslist from a guy selling his used parts. He said the parts were all collecting dust in his garage, so I was able to get them all for $210. Not a terrible deal considering this was in January 2019, but it's mostly on-par with Micro Center deals. It even came with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 that I'm still finding a home for. The purpose of this build was for a quick flip since all I had to do was find the case, GPU, and storage. Here's the breakdown of the rest of the build.

CPU

The original combo I bought actually came advertised as a Ryzen 5 1600x. When I was building the system, I noticed it was actually a Ryzen 7 1700x! This was a pleasant surprise so I ended up keeping the 1700x for my m-ITX build. Rakuten was having a sale at the time for the regular 1700 so I bought one of those for this build.

CPU Cooler

So I could have used the Hyper 212 EVO that came with the combo, but my plan for this build was to flip it, so I kept the stock cooler for the RGB and to match the case fans I bought. The temps were still pretty good but if this were my personal build, I would've chosen better temps.

Motherboard

This board is a beauty if you love RGB. The extra LED strip looks awesome and this board is apparently much better than the Gaming 3 version. Pretty happy to have this in the combo deal.

Ram

The original ram that came with the combo also went into my m-ITX build. Ram prices kept on falling so I bought this kit to match the white motherboard aesthetic. To my surprise, this ram actually works with Gigabyte RGB Fusion software so that's pretty nice.

SSD

This is a cheapy SSD that's regularly advertised on /r/buildapcsales. Nothing special here, I just wanted a SSD that I didn't have to mount to the case.

HDD

This is a cheap hard drive I got on Craigslist for $20. Works fine with no issues, but I'm happy to move on from Seagate.

Video Card

This card was a mining card I picked up used on Craigslist. The drivers wouldn't install for this card at first, but I was able to re-flash the bios back to stock and viola! Really happy to get value out of this and also the Gigabyte set bonus :D

Case

Oh man I really love this case and wish they made a smaller version of it. A seller on Craigslist had 2 of these for sale and I was able to get both for $100. This case is a beauty and really well made, but its HUGE. It's advertised as a mid tower but it's really a full tower. The panels are THICC and heavy but really good quality. I really tried to convince myself to keep this case but coming from a Meshify C and my recent m-ITX build, I had to let this one go.

Power Supply

Picked up this guy on Newegg for $45-50ish after rebate I think. I tried getting away with a CX450W in this build but couldn't get myself to do it.

Case Fans

These fans are cheap and beautiful. Just don't expect Noctua performance from them. I wish Uphere made these ring fans able to sync with the motherboard, but I'd still use these for their looks.

Conclusion

Overall the build took me about 3 months to complete. The reason it took me so long is that ram and SSD prices were dropping rapidly during Q1 and Q2 of 2019, and still are. Not only that, but Ryzen CPU prices are also dropping in price, so getting $800 for this build was very reasonable to me. I never try to get top dollar for my builds anyway, so this was a nice profit for me. While I know the RGB puke isn't for everyone, it definitely helped sell my build FAST.
