The Desk V2
First: I didn't see the competition till late, so this is a shadow of what it will be. But for anyone who looks at it now, I hope you like what you see.
This rig is both a work computer and a gaming rig. The ultra wide monitor was chosen for both multi-window work use, massive excel sheet processing, and being awesome in RTS's. I really like the standing desk (It is motorized, and thinking of that I'll update with a picture of it in Min height setting) and it was important to me that even if I do play games for way too long when my family is visiting relatives, I still manage to burn some calories.
I went with a Dark Base Pro 600 without researching properly. It really does choke the cooling on the components which wasn't too big a deal when I still had the Vega 56 in there. But the new Radeon VII is a killer. I don't think the water blocks for it will come out in time for this competition so unfortunately I think my final build for submission won't have the full water cooling loop I was hoping to have put together.
When looking through the part list they do seem a little mismatched. The Ryzen 5 2600 is not overclocked, but was always meant to be a place holder for a 3000 series. It's doing it's job excellently at the moment. Everything seems to be high or low end for the reason of replacement. The only regret I have is that the B450 motherboard is distinctly middle of the road. I should have either gone cheaper for better replacement value, or more expensive and expected to hold onto it.
Anyway, thanks for reading! Hopefully these updates get better as the build goes on.
V2: Cleaned up. No hardware changes yet. Modifications to the desk and walls are starting to be planned.
V1: Messy setup. Wanted to get a picture up before the contest went live just to make sure I could get in on it.
