Swing out dust filter panel, that hides the DVD/CD drive.
All of this PC's processing and graphics, all under such a small cooler
DVD drive, took it from the previous media build, might come in handy.
Cable management is my passion.
Quite an extensive IO for such a small motherboard.
*OUTDATED* / Tiny Giant V1.0
For the longest time I have been using my old PC with an I5-4430 and its iGPU for all my film and anime viewing. For the longest time, this was enough, since everything I view is 1080p and the little old I5 could handle that.
However it was still slow, and I thought it would be a good time to give the old media pc an upgrade, to future proof it for if I ever stumbled onto a 4K tv for instance.
My criteria was that it needed to be plenty fast, but not be too expensive, since it's main purpose is still media viewing, which does not ask many resources.
At first I thought I would grab a cheap Ryzen 3 3100 or I3 10300 and pair it with a cheap GPU like an RX550 or an GT 1030. After doing some research however, my eyes fell on the APU line up of AMD. Their integrated graphics were more than fast enough, and their CPU's were quite quick indeed.
The choice fell between the 3200G or 3400G, at the time of ordering they were the same price so I ended up going for the 3400G. Paired it with some decent RAM, a good Motherboard, a nice, small, sleek case, stole the PSU and storage from the previous media PC, and boom, I had a powerful little media pc at hand.
I am surprised at how quiet the system is, but then again, the CPU does not ask for much power, and the case is called Silencio for a reason I guess.
A nice little media PC that can power my binging sessions for the foreseeable future. (it would also work great as a cheap, entry level gaming PC!)
