My first build, looking to change most things by the end of the year

The base for the build came together back in August 2018, i upgraded from my good old I5 4690K to the 2700X, the only thing i kept from my old build was a GTX 970. It is the first setup that i got together with my own money which i got from working for the entirity of summer, i was 16 back then and to be honest i was proud of myself. In April 2019 i switched the 970 to a used RX 580 which i got for practically free, sadly it shit the bed in August. Suprisingly, i managed to return it and i got all of the money the original owner bought it for back. I was working at a part time job from October 2019 to February 2020 and that was the push i needed to get my current GPU, a RTX 2070S which i got in November. In January 2020, i got myself a NVME M.2 drive, a Scythe Fuma 2 CPU fan and new RAM.

The two issues i'm having now is that i am CPU bottlenecked and that the 2700X's memory controller won't let me run the RAM at it's rated speeds. My GPU never really reaches it's full potentional (although my 1080p monitor is playing a part in this too, i'm not switching to 1440p until 1440p 144FPS stable is possible though) and i'm hoping that an upgrade to one of the Ryzen 4000 in Fall will fix this. I'm looking to get a bunch of other stuff that will improve the overall setup too.

(EDIT: I got a 3600 as a workaround to hold me over until 4000 is out. Sold the 2700X for 138 Euros, got the 3600 for 205 Euros. About 25 FPS increase on avarage, my RAM runs at 3600MHz without errors, my GPU usage increased).

The first thing i'll be getting in a week or so is a new desk.

I've had the one i currently have for 10 years now and it's showing it's signs of age. I'll be building it myself, i got some left over legs for it, picked a dark brown wooden board already and it's a big one, it's 2 and a half meters long. I'll be cutting a 60x10cm hole on the back edge of the board (like this, sorry for the MSPaint drawing) for cables. It'll have two legs in the front and one somewhere in the middle, and it will be mounted onto a wall in the back. 4 L shaped things (i'm not sure how to properly translate it into english, sorry) holding it from the bottom. I'll also run a 2 meters long controllable RGB LED strip along the back edge on the bottom side.

Edit: The new desk is done and installed, in the end i decided not to cut a hole into it, i just have a slight gap between the wall and the desk.

The thing after that will be the build itself. I already have most parts picked.

For the case, if nothing better comes out til November, i'll be goin with the Lian Li Lancool II Mesh Performance. The reviews are nearly all positive, it offers great airflow capabilities and other cool functions like a 6 slot fan hub.

For the case fans, i'll be going with five fans in total. Two Arctic P14 PWMs and three Noctua NF-A12X25 PWMs. Not sure on the exact positioning of them yet, the Lancool II offers two fan slots directly below the GPU and i'm wondering if it would be better to have 2 Noctuas or 2 Arctics there, then one would be in the back and two on the top. I'll test it once i'll have it, i suppose.

For CPU cooling i'll be going with an AIO. I was always nervous about them leaking, but i decided to finally go for it. I picked the Arctic Liquid Freezer II, not sure if 280 or 360 yet. I'll have it mounted in the front and i heard that having a 360 in the front in a Lancool II is not ideal, so most likely i'll go with the 280.

For the MOBO, if nothing better comes out (some people are saying that X670 is happening, some are saying that it's not, personally i'm expecting a X570 refresh) i'll either be going with the Asrock X570 Taichi or the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra.

And finally for the CPU my most likely target will be a Ryzen 7 4700X, hopefully it will close the gap between AMD and Intel when it comes to gaming performance.

The last thing i'd want to get is a TV.

I changed the layout of my room recently and i have my bed in front of my setup, so i got the idea that having a TV mounted on the wall above my monitors for Netflix and gaming would look amazing. I'm not sure about the exact model yet, but the size i'm aiming for is 4K 55". The issue i'm having is that on the EU market, they're all rated for either 50Hz or 100Hz. The 100Hz ones are out of my budget so 50Hz is my only option. I'm fairly certain that it will bring frame pacing issues. I asked around on a TV forum, one user said that you can set 60Hz on all of them in the settings, another recommended a Hisense TV which is actually 60Hz but it's a VA panel so i'm thinking that the viewing angles will be poor, i also never heard of the brand before so i dunno.

Other than all of this, there's a few things i may or may not get, i'm thinking about getting a few squares of acoustic foam, a new mouse (most likely the Logitech G Pro Wireless) and new monitors because for some reason the Viewsonic is getting me semi-frequent headaches and from what i've seen it's not just me having this issue with it. Like i said though, these things are not set in stone.

Anyways, that is my entire upgrade plan, i'll post picture updates once i get the table.

Update: After giving it some thought, i'm scrapping the TV and i'll be getting a 3080 Ti/Super instead, then i'll be getting a 1440p/144hz monitor sometime next year.
