Cassiopeia v2.5 (Retired)
This is the system I use for my dedicated file/media server.
For the case I went with a Fractal Define R6. I went with it for one reason alone... 3.5" drive bays, it has a lot of them. Otherwise this case is overkill since it's sitting in my mechanical room and I don't really see it. Granted the window is nice to be able to see diagnostic LED's and the current temp without even turning on the screen. I would like to swap the Meshify S2 front panel on to this though.
The CPU is a Ryzen 5 3600. I wanted something that could handle transcoding as well as encoding. I would have gotten an R7, but decided that I might want to get the 12 core 3900X or maybe even the 16 core, because... reasons. I put it in the ASRock X470 Taichi. Once again, overkill. However, I wanted to have the option to get a Zen 2 CPU and not be limited by the power delivery. The RAM is just some standard G.Skill Trident Z, non-RGB.
There's no integrated graphics on the 2600, and even if there were I wouldn't want it using system memory, I carried the EVGA GTX 760 SC over from the last build. I went with the 760 because it was cheap and is compatible with UEFI as well.
The Cooler is a Cryorig H7 Universal. It's inexpensive and it's cooling an R5. It's not like I needed anything special.
The power supply is a Corsair HX750i. Once again, overkill. However, I had the custom sleeved cables from my last main rig that work for the HXi PSU's. So, I found a deal on an HX750i and decided to just use them since nobody seemed interested in buying them. Plus, if do get one of the higher core count Zen 2 CPU's the headroom will be nice for overclocking.
The main drive is a 250GB Samsung Evo 850 m.2 SSD for the O/S. For data there's a few Western Digital Red HHD's. A 1TB, 5TB and a 10TB. There's also an external enclosure with to 8TB drives for backup.
