today I present a one-off build case mod based on the Lenovo m720q that I dub BRQ Sprite.
initially I was inspired by ITG Gear on YouTube and thought this could be a nice challenge.
quick story short.
I used 3d scanning to reverse engineer the parts, and had to figure out the rest, unlike ITG Gear, the front panel and top cover are one part, I then did research on how to use compliant mechanisms to create a button for the power button switch, a custom gpu IO shield and a case stand.
I had to reiterate around 4 times to get it 99% there, and because it looked dull with the first few I thought why not add some extra style on the plain cover.
now let's talk hardware.
it's an m720q, has an intel i5 8500, 16GB ram and 256gb m.2 for storage.
I added a south bridge heatsink, got a pcie riser compatible with it, an RX6400 and a more powerful power brick (230w).
performance:
don't expect much, it's a power limited build, even though I'm using a more powerful brick, the system is not giving the CPU more than 35w, and I noticed when I run games the CPU is struggling to get power.
this build is best for indie games, light 3d games and emulation.
