Maingear recently began offering their Vybe Chassis and Apex liquid cooling unit for DIY so you can build yourself, selling from their website or Micro center in store.
Really enjoyed the build in it, and loved the way it came out with the apex unit and the various addressable RGB components.
I’ve always really liked their designs, and decided to try a build in this case using the Apex unit.
A couple of things I really like:
1. Vertical gpu slot built in
2. Apex water block/pump fits perfectly on that side, still keeing good radiator space available (seems like 240 on top and 240 or 360 on the front will work well, can fit a 360 on top if not using the full length water block)
Just note the apex water block is sold separarely and not installed in the case, its just designed for this case - but i can see it fitting in many cases too.
3. Good price, front usb, light case, easy to move around when building - good size for a gaming build
4. Plenty of space in the back and bottom for any hard drives , front panel pops out easily for access with a metallic dust filter. Bottom hard drive bay pops out too
Also has a built in fan and D rgb controller
Overall nice presentation in the box, red color really pops and aesthetically looks very good
Here are a few more build notes:
1. Tempered glass is crystal clear, I like that. You can see inside easily, I prefer clear to a slight tint.
2. Case was very diy friendly, was able to easily remove the hard drive bays, and even the front panel usb connectors screw out in case you want less cables and not using the inputs. Top air cover is super sturdy, and part of the case, not just a filter, I like that.
Comes with a fan and DRGB controller in the back, a nice touch. DRGB typically has 1 slot on most motherboards, so that splitter helped me add the front panel, apex unit, and cpu block which all have the 3 pin addressable connector.
3. For the price, size, and intention of the case, I think it hits the mark perfectly, I’m trying to find points to criticize on it but nothing comes up. If you like the aesthetic and want to fit that apex unit, it stands out from others on the market.
4. I have some open space on the bottom left, vertical gpu would work perfectly here- I am planning on adding an evga nu soundcard otherwise I would have done it vertically.
