Project Impact is our new design around the mini ITX/DTX form factor.
We designed it to satisfy all our needs for our studio workstation with a few simple goals on the checklist:
It had to be simple, minimal, easy to assemble, it had to fit a 240mm radiator and a 120mm fan to ensure optimal thermal performances without compromising the reduced form factor.
DUAL CHAMBER DESIGN
To satisfy all our requirements we designed a dual chamber case with a riser that extend the PCIe slot to one chamber to another. We also joined the bottom chambers in order to gain space and mount a SFX power supply and a 120mm fan.
Everything had to be perfectly designed in order to ensure accessibility and keep performances to our expectations.
A TRICKY BUT WELL EXECUTED CABLE MANAGEMENT
In a case like this you can’t hide cables, but you can route them nicely and in aesthetically pleasing way. The space around the fan on the bottom turned out to be quite useful to route cables through and the final assembly come out quite nicely.
ASUS ROG QUALITY COMPONENTS
For this components we used a few of the best components of the market for this size format. The ROG Crosshair VIII Impact is a very special record holder motherboard in mDTX format (3cm longer than mITX) so we had to adapt the original concept to this unusual form factor. The ROG minimal designed was in line with the first concepts but we took the ROG theme a little bit further with a new front panel and top fan grill.
On the GPU side dimensions are on point as you can virtually divide the case in 3 parts and the GPU fills precisely the middle one. This criteria of proportions has been respected through the whole design session to give the project harmony and equilibrium with the various components.
