ID33IP's build
History:
2011
Back in 2011, I purchased a prebuilt HP computer (HPE-501f) to play Skyrim (It ran on Ultra, total happiness).
2013
Then some time in 2013, I bought a GTX 760 and a power supply (Corsair TX 750). In 2014, I decided I was sick of the outdated AMD Phenom II Black Edition and got myself a nice budget setup.
- Cheap micro-atx mobo to host my new i5-4690k (gigabyte z97 gaming 5 I think)
- Corsair 400r case
- Refurbished H100i water cooler
2015
That lasted until 2015 when I ran the Witcher 3 and realized my GTX 760 was very limited. I then bought an MSI GTX 970 (the one noone likes with the red shroud hehe).
2018
In october this year, I got myself a nice MSI GTX 1070 Ti for a price lower than I'd ever seen before. (Lower than it was during its black friday "deal"!)
A few weeks later, a friend of mine was departing of his i7-6700k and his motherboard (ASUS Z170-A) which he sold me for only 100$ CAD.
Overclocking:
I only managed to overclock the i7 to 4.5GHz. It was the best I could do using reasonable voltage. Bad chip or just old age, I don't know - still quite the deal for me.
As for the graphics card, I have a stable +200 MHz Core Clock and +750 MHz Memory Clock which I am happy with, but not as happy as I would be with a 2080 Ti!!!
